Progeny groups Rody-Red and Altitude-Red impress at R&W National Show

Last Saturday, the first National Red & White Show featured daughter groups of breeding bulls from the Netherlands. The daughters of bulls Aalshorst Rody-Red and Drouner Altitude-Red, bred by GenHotel members Aalshorst Holsteins and Drouner Holsteins, made an impressive entry into the show ring, captivating many enthusiastic visitors.

Aalshorst Rody-Red, a Ms Riverboy son born in 2016, was bred by Roland and Tim Scholten (pictured below) from their homebred Geertje cow family. He became the no. 1 gNVI red-and-white genomics young sire in April 2017, which gained popularity with sire-analysts and farmers. After his debut as a daughterproven bull in August 2020, he continued to maintain a top position with increasing the number of milking daughters in his NVI index. Currently, with 249 NVI, 416 lactating daughters, and 98% reliability, Rody holds the 4th place in the ranking as of April 2024.

The Kamps-Hollow Durham Altitude RDC EX-95 cow family is well-known for providing AI bulls. Since this family is being introduced in the Drouner herd by the birth of Drouner AJDH Aiko RDC VG-87, this line has made a significant impact on both the male and female side. The Aiko line from the Albring family has produced numerous AI-bulls, with the most recent being Drouner Altitude-Red. This sire, by Delta Jacuzzi-Red, is from Dg Charley daughter Drouner Dh Aiko 1456 RDC VG-88 and became the number 2 red-and-white gNVI bull in April 2020. Despite not being initially known for high fat and protein levels, Altitude-Red's milking daughters have proven otherwise. Currently, he ranks 11th in the NVI list (just below his sire in 10th place) and his profile is showing +0.26% fat and +0.10% protein with good conformation based on data from 319 lactating daughters.
