Great wins at the Dutch HHH-sHow!

The annual Holland Holstein Herd show was once again a great experience, as several GenHotel members showcased their cows and came home with impressive titles.

The competition included strong contenders in both Holstein and Red Holstein categories. Numerous local and national champions were in top form last Saturday as they entered the national show ring.

One standout was Drouner Cosmo 1836 VG-89 from Drouner Holsteins. After winning the first Intermediat Class, she faced an exciting challenge during the finals. The Alligator daughter ultimately came into a dual with Bertha 211, a Chief daughter from Mts. De Groot, who emerged as the Intermediate Champion. As a result, the Junior Champion of HHH 2023, Cosmo, claimed the Reserve Intermediate.

In the Red Holstein ring, Drouner Aiko 1816 Red, a second lactation Diamondback RDC, secured an impressive second place. The VG-89 scored Aiko 1816 Red is a direct descendant of the esteemed Drouner AJDH Aiko 1288 Red EX-91, who has had six calves and is sired by Olympian RDC. The 10-year-old Olympian has made a remarkable impact on her breeders, having been honored in the production class. Throughout her six lactations, Aiko 1288 Red has produced a total of 75,658 kg of milk, with 4.31% fat and 3.50% protein. In this impressive class, she achieved an honorable third place.

Drouner Mientje 1766 Red, a Crown-Red daughter, achieved significant success by placing second and qualifying for the intermediate class finals. This accomplishment mirrors her 2022 performance, where she was also 2nd in the junior 2-yr-old class. Additionally, a thrilling competition led to the election of the third calver as Reserve Champion.

The Bakker family from Batouwe Holsteins also made the trip to the national show with their cows and heifers. Their standout animal, the outstanding Jordy-Red daughter Batouwe Belladonna, won both the Intermadiate Championship and the award for Best Udder at the Dairy Fair Mariënwaerdt in 2023. Belladonna, a descendant of All-Star Jotan Bella, calved for the third time last August, which allowed her to participate in the national show in excellent condition. After securing second place in the youngest class of seniors Belladonna EX-90 advanced to the finals.

NRP Awesome Amberlee Red EX-91, the Grand Champion of the Veekeuring Fryslân 2024, also competed. Breeder and owner Norwin Piet led her through the show ring, where the duo earned a commendable third place. In the Red & White Seniors finals, Batouwe's Belladonna received an Honorable Mention.

Herd groups
While there were three competing groups in the Holstein ring, the quality of the entries was exceptional. The Albring family participated in the contest for the best herds group with a trio of young dairy cows, which finished in third place. Additionally, the Albring family entered with a Red trio as well. The competition was more robust in this category, with six participating companies, and they again secured a third place finish.
