Holstein Internatinoal's Red-Impact Competition 2017
Just like the recent years Holstein International organises the Red-Impact Competition. An impressive line-up of Red or RC cows are selected. Among them several cows owned by GenHotel members. We briefly introduce them with the description from Holstein International (source: HI 4/2017).
Poppe Pietje 519-Red - Poppe Holsteins
Another interesting name amongst the Red-Impact nominees is Spencer daughter, Poppe Pietje 519, who is the broodcow behind a great branch of the Almere/Huyben Pietje family at Poppe Holsteins. Creating a high GNVI and GRZG line, Pietje 519 is dam of numerous breed-leading sires including the Nr.1 Red/RC RZG sire Red Mist Red, the Nr.2 Red/RC RZG Sire Snow RC, as well as Eragon Red, Elspe Red. Making great cattle, in 2016 an 8-strong Snow RC group won the progeny group competition at Schau der Besten. Pietje 519’s daughters and granddaughters are also breeding well… her Snowman daughter, Pietje 721, is the dam of AI sire Poppe Timeless.

SHB Mrs Poll P RDC - KNS Holsteins
In total more than 15 of Mrs Poll’s sons and grandsons have been sold into AI including her first son, Laptop PP Red, who for 3 consecutive years has been the most popular polled bull in Germany. Fast-forward a generation on and now her grandsons are also popular – like Kied Red PP who is one of Masterrind’s top sellers. The family behind Mrs Poll is the deep Blackstar Mabel family in Germany. Kid’s dam is Laptop PP’s Bookem-sister, PG Mookem P. Another of Mookem’s sons in AI kis Kitano, whilst her Chevrolet daughter, Cheer P, sold for € 18.500. Mookem’s full-sister, Sahara Bookem Model P, is dam of Eraldo PP RC. And the list goes on…

Verhages Candlelight P Red - Schreur Holsteins
Not only is she an empress in the polled world, but she’s a queen in the Red-Holstein fraternity too and last year she finished 3rd in this competition. To mention a few of Candlelight P Red sons there’s AltaUp P Red, AltaCasual P RC, Candle P RC, Champ P Red, Cyrus P RC, Canon P RC and the super sire of sons, Apoll P Red. In December, 12 of the top 15 GRZG Red-Holstein females (>9 months) in Germany were Apoll daughters and 2 of the top 5 Red-Holstein GRZG sires are Apoll sons. Apoll himself is the Nr.14 GRZG Red-Holstein sire. Unsurprisingly Candlelight’s qualities have not come from no-where. In her back pedigree is the noted Stookey Scarlet-Red EX-94 and Continental Scarlet-Red EX-95.

Other nominees
Among the other nominees are other famous cows such as Des-Y-Gen Planet Silk RC EX-90, Snowbiz Sympatico Sofia Red VG-85 and KHW Super Aderyn RC EX-90, with all offspring at GenHotel.
