Red Range family expands beyond national borders
Koepon Raina Red (Freestyle Red x AltaTop Red)
In just a few years, the Lakeside Ups Red Range cow family has grown into a significant player in the global (Red) Holstein industry. With offspring achieving impressive scores of up to 155 gRZG, 3255 gTPI, and 406 gNVI, the Range calves are establishing themselves among the elite. Their success and exceptional genetics have caught the attention of various parties across Europe, including German dairy farmers, who are now milking the first calving Freestyle-Red daughter, Koepon Raina Red.
In recent years, dozens of sons, grandsons, and great-grandsons of the Global Red Impact Cow of 2021, Red Range VG-86, have been sent to various international AI programs, making the genetics of this former number one gTPI Red Holstein heifer accessible to many. At the female level, the Range Red offspring, now numbering up to 400, have ranked among the top in Europe. This ongoing success has led to continued interest from different parties. Notably, in 2021, embryos from the combination of Poppe Freestyle and Koepon Top Range 19 Red were sold to Germany. Top Range 19 Red is a direct daughter of Red Range VG-86 and an offspring of the highly regarded Koepon AltaTop-Red, boasting an impressive gRZG score. Her full brother is Koepon AltaRefine Red, a daughter proven sire at ABS/Genus.
This combination produced Koepon Raina Red, who is a full sister to Koepon Freestyle Range 110 Red GP-82. Koepon Freestyle Range 110 Red was sold during the 2022 edition of the Koepon Summer Sale to a breeder in Switzerland. The current owner, TGD-Holsteins, has bred two daughters from this Range 110 Red using the bull Blakely, achieving remarkable scores of 2924 gTPI/1591 gISET and 3011 gTPI/1587 gISET. As a result, these daughters are ranked as number 6 and number 8 on the red factor female gISET list in Switzerland.
The German full sister, Raina Red, calved last summer and has already produced several polled offspring with impressive scores of up to 152 gRZG. She currently maintains a daily milk production of 35 kg.
