Prominent cow families at Poppe Holsteins
Sheeknoll Durham Arrow EX-96, granddam classified Arrow
Recently, the classifier visited the Poppe family's farm, resulting in very good scores for first calvers and even some young, already classified, cows. The impressive cows hailed from various internationally prestigious cow families.
The highest score was awarded to the renowned Fienchen cow family. Poppe Fienchen 2239, the daughter of the Dutch bull Shakespeare who calved in August, received a score of VG-87 with a VG-88 in Dairy Strength. Her granddam, Poppe Fienchen 804, is a VG-88 Danillo daughter and dam of the former top proven sire Poppe Ferdi.

From the joint purchase, THI Tasty RDC, of Poppe Holsteins and 3STAR Genetics, a Freestyle-Red daughter named Poppe 3STAR Tina Red, was born. Tasty RDC was used as a bull dam, producing the top polled bull Schuit 3STAR Marcel P Red and his maternal brother 3STAR Poppe Tiger Red. Tina Red's genomic profile has also created opportunities, leading to her being flushed with top sire of sons. During this classification round, she received a score of VG-86, with VG-88 for DS and VG-87 MS.

Another daughter of the home bred Freestyle Red, Poppe Pietje 2229 P Red, was also approved. This cow family has produced notable bulls, including Poppe Timeless and Poppe Snow RF. Despite being somewhat under the radar in recent years, partly due to the increasing prominence of the Fienchen family, this herd still includes a significant number of Pietje offspring. Pietje 2229 P Red calved at 2.00 years earned a score of VG-86 with VG-88 MS.

Poppe Arrow is a granddaughter of the renowned show cow Sheeknoll Durham Arrow EX-96, making her part of a prestigious cow family with international recognition. Durham Arrow is legendary in the dairy industry, holding numerous titles including Grand Champion and Reserve Supreme Champion, Grand Champion of the WDE 20216 and Grand Champion of both the Midwest Fall National in 2016, and the Minnesota State Holstein Show in 2016. Poppe Arrow descends from the WDE champion through her direct maternal line, which includes a Crush daughter, JHS Holsteins K&L Abigail VG-85. Last summer, this Random daughter had her first calf and was recently classified VG-85.
