August proofs bring in new frontrunners in Germany
Germany was one of the first countries this morning to publish the new proofs of August 2023. In both Holstein and Red Holsteins lists, we see new names appear at the top. It's up to GenHotel to bring you a quick overview of the changes in those rankings.
Young genomic bulls
With no less than 171 gRZG, 156 RZM and 2981 gRZ€, the debuting number one, Real Syn (Rover x Adaway), is lonely at the top and leaves his paternal-brother - Rockwell - with a score of 162 gRZG far behind. The new frontrunner comes from the American cow family of Sully Shottle May EX-91. This line is popular with European sire analysts, so several top bulls have already been successfully stationed in AIs. Both Real Syn and the no. 2 Rockwell are owned by Synetics. RUW Champion, a SHS Clapton son from BMN Elli (by Freemax), which was sold for € 12,800 during the Highlight Sale 2021, was in the genomics lists for the first time in April and immediately took the leading position. Although his gRZG of 160 remains unchanged, he drops to a 3rd place in August. At number 4 is the highest ranking bull bred by a GenHotel member, namely Wilder Holsteins' Wilder Montague. This 159 gRZG scoring Monteverdi son descends via many VG and EX dams from the well-known brood cow Ralma Juror Faith EX-91. His dam is Wilder Fla (by Honda) which scored VG-85 as a 2-yr-old and brought female offspring up to 2864 gTPI and 156 gRZG. April's no. 6 Proximo son Precision, has not only risen a point in his total index, but also managed to climb a spot in the rankings. With 159 gRZG, he takes over the 5th position from Nexo (157 gRZG) which drops to the 15th position. A bull that has managed to make a striking jump is the Gen Pikachu son Picard, which has risen no less than two points in RZG to 159 gRZG and has climbed from place 13 to 9 compared to April! Highest polled and red carrier remains sire Skat P RDC (Sonsor P x Durable) with 157 gRZG. With 153 gRZG, Can PP RDC by Cartoon P Red, is the frontrunner of the homozygous polled young sires.
There is also a big changing when it comes to the young Red Holstein sires. The now available WAC CR 7 P is the new leader in Germany with 162 gRZG and thus takes over from Star P RDC son Koepon Sirius P Red (161 gRZG). This does not alter the fact that Koepon Genetics also made a major contribution to the number 1 of August, CR 7 P. His dam Koepon RUW Regine P Red VG-88 (by Spark Red) was exported as an embryo after the German AI organization RUW contracted her Mission P RDC dam, Koepon M P Regenia 244 P RDC VG-85, for embryos! In second place in the list we find the by Geestland Holstein bred GlH Redford, a Ranger-Red son from the Des-Y-Gen Planet Silk family. With 161 gRZG, this young sire rises not only one point in his total index, but also one place in the gRZG rankings. With this he makes way for a bull from the same mating in the 6th position, namely De Oosterhof 3STAR Fresco Red. The 158 gRZG scoring Freestyle-Red son leads back to the French breeding cow Radieuse EX-91 and was bred by De Oosterhof and GenHotel from the Caudumer Holsteins breeding product Caudumer Royal Flash 3 P Red, which they purchased a few years ago.
After several proof runs, a new number 1 gRZG homozygous polled sire has risen in Germany, namely Wilder Kanu 111 RDC offspring Cop Red PP. This Cartoon P Red x Solitair P Red with 157 gRZG (place 7) takes over from Tirsvad 3STAR Member PP Red (154 gRZG). The Matty P RDC son from multiple bull dam Amber PP Red VG-85 drops two points in his total index.

Proven
Although there is a significant change in the top 10 in several RZG lists, the top 2 of the proven B&W bulls remain unchanged, with placed first DG OH Topstone (154 RZG), coming from the herd of De Oosterhof, succeeded by again Super Uno (Superhero x Missouri) with 151 RZG. The number of lactating daughters of the Dutch bull Topstone has almost doubled in just four months by 4300! One place up compared to April is the sire HaS Garido with a RZG of 150 (+1 in its total index) based on 3103 milking German daughters. This Boldi V Gymnast son was bred by the Rörden family (Hof am Sylvert) and was also used as a sire of sons and can easily be mated because of his +0.40% fat and +0.12% protein. One of the highest risers in the list is the as embryo imported Siemers RUW Rafting (by Fairmont Stoic Ragen) with 149 RZG in 4th place. Best newcomer is one of Veelhorst DG Casino's first sons, namely Calvin. While Casino retains its 5th position in the list with no less than >5500 milking daughters, his debuting son can be found in the top 10 with 147 RZG. One bull that definitely needs to be highlighted in this story is Riethil Summerlake. After his debut in the proven B&W RZG rankings in August 2021, where he was ranked 24th with 142 RZG, the Charley son bred by Riethil Holsteins has not disappeared from the top 10 RZG B&W as of December 2021! That means that Summerlake has been able to make a splashy impression for six proof runs in a row and his daughters perform very well. The progeny proven sire, tracing back to Gourmette EX-92, is backed by 9 generations of VG/EX in a row and is with 147 RZG the number 9 of August in Germany. The highest polled proven sire is with 142 RZG in place 23 KNS Simon P (Semino x Board) bred by KNS Holsteins.
With 140 RZE, 136 RZN and 143 RZG, Solito Red is the new leader of the daughter proven Red Holsteins! This bull is sired by Mr Salvatore RC, a sire of son which has left an unprecedented influence on the Red Holstein breed. This can also be traced back to the top 50 RZG Red Holstein sires where no less than 8 Salvatore sons can be found, five of which are in the top 10! Solito Red also brings a deep-rooted breeding power on his dam's side, because through his originally Dutch VG-85 Atwork RDC dam, he descends from Kamps-Hollow Durham Altitude RDC EX-95 via 5 generations of VG/EX! Compared to April, the new number 1 rises no less than 7 places in the rankings and leaves the number 2 Spark Red (142 RZG) just behind. The first Spark-Red son enters the 8th position and is also the highest newcomer in this list! Sam Red P (138 RZG), Spark Red x Hologram P, with only 24 milking daughters in his RZG index is a bull which we will be hearing of a lot more about in the future. In the top 10, the Caudumer Holstein-bred Solitair P Red is the bull with the most daughters in lactation (2464). Where this former sire of sons came in second place in April with 143 RZG, the August RZG-index of 141 RZG made that the son of Caudumer Lol 371 P RDC VG-87 can now be found in fifth position. His full brother Caudumer Snickers P Red (137 RZG) is listed at number 10.
Acryl PP Red (Abi Red PP x Battlecry) is the highest homozygous polled sire in this top 50. The Abi Red PP son, which goes back to the Belgian Stadel-Red daughter Suzan EX-91, is one of a total of four homozygous polled sires in the top 50. With 130 RZG, Acryl PP Red is ranked at 39.
