Members enjoy a great start to the 2025 show season

Last weekend, crowds gathered at the Wintershow Zwolle and the FVZH Wintershow in Noordeloos. Several GenHotel members showcased their best cows, successfully kicking off the 2025 show season by earning the first titles of the year!

This year, the Wintershow of Eastern Netherlands was held at a new location, yet a large number of show enthusiasts found their way to the show rings. Nearly 150 heifers and milkerss competed for various titles. De Wijde Blik had a particularly successful day, returning home with an impressive four titles.

In the competition for the conformation of the young heifers, the winner was De Wijde Blik Jolein 18, a 9-month-old Superbrown Duplago daughter out of the VG-87 Butlerview Gold Medal daughter, De Wijde Blik Jolein 16. The Jolein family, belonging to the Nijman family at De Wijde Blik Holsteins, is known for its excellence in show conformation and has bred many outstanding cows so far. Jolein 18's granddam, De Wijde Blik Jolein 11 (sired by Altaroble), also performed remarkably in the show ring. Jolein 11 has now calved four times and earned the Reserve Intermediate Championship! After a visit from the classifiers, she received an impressive score of EX-90.

In the red-and-white ring, Sudena/Wilskracht Holsteins and De Wijde Blik Holsteins once again showcased their excellence. We also noticed Beeze Holsteins performing well in the Production class. In the youngest category featuring 2-yr-olds, the well-built Warhero-Red daughter, Wilskracht Miley 1593 Red VG-88, owned by Emiel Willems and Sudena Holsteins, secured second place. In the subsequent class, her herdmate, Sudena Lieke 6 VG-86, a daughter of the bull 3STAR OH Ranger Red, also clinched the second position.

The success continued with the second calver Wilskracht Warsi 1433 owned by Emiel Willems, who won her class. This Avatar-Red daughter, rated VG-89 (VG-89 MS), directly descends from the renowned brood and show cow Wilskracht Warsi 879 Red EX-93, who was also present to compete in the production class. She faced off against the eventual champion, a Jordy daughter from the Steegink family, and De Wijde Blik Corrie 679, a third calver Crown-Red daughter. Corrie 679 was named Res. Intermediate Champion. Yesterday the classifiers classified her EX-90!

The successful day concluded with a special production class, where the EX-93 Bram daughter, Warsi 879 Red, emerged as the winner. Martien van der Kamp, the owner of Beeze Holsteins, also showcased one of his top production cows. This 11-year-old Fontoy daughter, representing the Morningview Converse Judy EX-93 cow family, is Judy 16 VG-88. She has already calved nine times and reached the remarkable milestone of 100,000 kg of milk in the summer of 2023. Currently, she stands at 116,915 kg of milk with a combined total of 8,523 kg of fat and protein. Although she secured second place against the outstanding Bram daughter from Wilskracht Holsteins, Judy 16's journey to this show and her achievement as the reserve champion in this class is truly impressive.
