The American Budjon-Vail Drm Sunshine EX-95 was named the Star of the Breed 2023 by Holstein USA. This honors her young owners from Minnesota with the highest honor presented to a Registered Holstein within North America, the award recognizes a cow who excels in both type and production.
Budjon-Vail Drm Sunshine EX-95 is a fourth lactation Val-Bisson Doorman daughter, originally from the herd of Budjon Farms and Peter Vail. A few years ago, Sunshine changed owners within the Cull/Bening family. Afterward, the two young nephews, Chandler and Calvin, could call themselves owners of this fantastic show cow.

The title "Star of the Breed 2023" was awarded to the seven-year-old Doorman, who has won multiple major show titles in recent years. At the 2023 Midwest Spring National Show, Sunshine's second place finish in the Aged Cow Class, in addition to producing 19.109 kgM with 5.30% fat and 3.60% protein, qualified her for the Star of the Breed award.
Sunshine's pedigree includes three generations of VG/EX scoring show winners, before tracing back to the well-known Triumphant daughter Brabantdale Triumphant Spooky EX-90. Throughout her lifetime, Spooky bred no less than 10 Excellent and more than 30 Very Good classfiied daughters and was honored as '54 Star Brood Cow'.
