Aalshorst Geertje 54 VG-88
New at GenHotel is Aalshorst Holsteins owned by the Scholten family. Aalshorst Holsteins is established on the estate “Den Aalshorst” in Dalfsen, the Netherlands, and they milk around 120 cows. The most famous cowfamily at Aalshorst Holsteins is the Geertje family that bred bulls such as Aalshorst Pleasure and Aalshorst Balaton.
Aalshorst Geertje 54
The most important cow from the Geertje family is off course Aalshorst Geertje 54 VG-88. This Merton daughter has a lifetime production of 111.504 kg of milk with 4.98% fat and 3.55% protein in 3741 days. Geertje 54 is the dam to the proven bulls Pleasure (Talent) and Balaton (Lightning) but also left several very good daughters. One of these daughters is Aalshorst Geertje 61, a VG-88 classified full sister to Balaton. She is, through a VG-87 Classic, an VG-85 Destry and a GP-84 Glorious, the 4th dam to Aalshorst Geertje 214 Red. She scores +156 GRZG and is one of the “hottest” Whatsapp RF daughters in the Netherlands. Another interesting heifer from this family is Aalshorst Geertje 211 Red, a +148 GRZG / +199 GNVI Effort. Her dam is Aalshorst Geertje 142 Red VG-86, a full sister to the dam of Geertje 214 Red.
Competition
Cows from the Geertje family have to compete against cows from the homebred Dienie, Ida, Jannie and Melda family. But they also face competition from members of the Apina Massia, Willem’s Hoeve Rita and Poppe Fienchen family. From the Rita family hails Aalshorst Ria 2, a VG-86 Jerudo daughter that is producing very well. Her Perfect Aiko son, Aalshorst Rik, is sold to the UK.
Straight from the Fienchen family comes Aalshorst Fienchen 12 P Red, a RED and POLLED +258 GNVI / +140 GRZG Apoll P daughter of Poppe Fienchen 803 RDC VG-86 (Danillo x Poppe Fienchen 580 RDC VG-88).
K&L Embryoprogram
Last year the Scholten family invested in very interesting embryos through the K&L Embryoprogram. Several heifers are born from these embryos including Aalshorst K&L Lol 2 (Apoll P Red x Kanu P x VG-87 Magna P x LOL 292 VG-87) and the full sisters Aalshorst K&L Nemea 1 and Aalshorst K&L Nemea 2 (Penley x Lexor x Tirsvad Stol Joc Nemo VG-87). Lol 2 is still waiting for her genomic results to come back but Nemea 1 and Nemea 2 are already tested and how. Nemea 1 scores +159 GRZG and her full sister, Nemea 2, scores +157 GRZG.
